Ryan Daniel Doherty

Ryan Daniel Doherty, age 43, a longtime resident of Franklin Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2026, in Elmhurst, Illinois.

He was born February 12, 1983 in Chicago, Illinois, the eldest child of Cynthia Doherty Fila.

Ryan was a skilled and dedicated mechanic with an impeccable work ethic. He loved cars, snowboarding, cycling, animals — especially dogs — music, and the outdoors. Most of all, Ryan loved making others happy and lived his life with an exceptional level of empathy and kindness toward everyone he encountered. His quick wit and fun-loving personality made him a joy to spend time with, while an effortlessness to connect with people from all walks of life spoke to his rare ability to make everyone feel seen, comfortable, and valued.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Terry and Eugene Doherty as well as uncles Mark Doherty and Eugene Doherty.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Cynthia and Richard Fila of Genoa City, Wisconsin; sister, Valerie Fila of Antioch, Illinois; brother, Lucas Fila of Antioch, Illinois; niece, Frances Fila of Minneapolis, Minnesota; cousin, Amber Doherty of San Francisco, California; cousin, Sean Doherty of Graham, Texas; godmother and cousin, Lucia [David] Garrity of Genoa City, Wisconsin; and longtime partner, Danielle Skwierczynski of Bensenville, Illinois. He is also survived by his beloved cat, Evan, and tortoise, Rocky.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Andersen Morgan Funeral Home, 10300 West Grand Avenue, Franklin Park, Illinois.
